As yet another Yuletide season slowly fades and we welcome the coming year, I’d like to take a special moment to thank all of our RING 22 club members and friends for the wonderful magic and fond memories we have shared these past twelve months!
Our holiday club meeting (12/20/2022) was a sensational success, with almost 70 members and guests attending to enjoy great magic, fun, and fellowship. Special thanks goes to club member and professional magician/caterer RICK RAIMONDO (AllAboutCateringllc.Com) for preparing an amazing feast, and I’d like to give a well-deserved “shout-out” to master magician KEITH FIELDS for another outstanding spotlighted performance! We also had special guests visiting us, including IBM Territorial VP JEFF BRODRICK, who trekked all the way from Grand Rapids to participate in our special brand of magic and holiday cheer! It’s always a pleasure to look back over an entire year filled with tremendous events and fantastic camaraderie – a tradition that IBM RING 22 will always be proud of!
One of the most amazing things that I have observed (not only at our recent holiday party but throughout each and every year) is the enormous generosity of our membership – so many of you freely shared incredible magic gifts with others, always “paying it forward” and helping fellow magicians (no wonder we’re known as THE DETROIT MAGIC CLUB)! On a personal note, I cannot thank each of you enough for your continued support, encouragement, and friendship – it is what I cherish MOST whenever I reflect on the magical wonders within our club! THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!
Forging ahead, please keep us in mind with your monthly plans next year – we are only as strong as our members and YOU are the reason our club is so uniquely special (I may be biased here but I think we’re about the best club in the country)! Remember, we’re more than a monthly club, we’re a monthly convention, and YOU are the REAL MAGIC that makes it all happen!
Of course, nothing worthwhile comes easily, and I’d like to mention our dear friends who have made our club a success these past years – VP FRED LENTER and Treasurer ROBERT PURCELL – terrific guys who are always there to ensure that everything (from planning to those pesky details) falls perfectly into place at every RING 22 event. On that note, we can’t forget the WUNDERGROUND MAGIC SHOP – not only the best “brick and mortar” shop in the USA but a real institution in our neck of the woods that supports magic and our club in many ways! Finally, I'd like to recognize the efforts of our nearby magic clubs, the ANN ARBOR RING 210, the TOLEDO, OHIO RING 68, the ABC Magic SAM CLUB 301, and the GRAND RAPIDS RING 211. We’re all citizens in the “world of magic” - promoting/sharing the joy of this incredible art form is ultimately our common goal!
We’re looking forward to seeing all of you at our next meeting on TUESDAY JANUARY 17, 2022 at 7:15 PM EST (Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 749 W. 14 Mile Rd., Clawson, MI) - this one is special for me as we’ll be spotlighting “yours truly” (JOHNNY NEW YORK) to kick off the new year!
